Modi Government’s dream of taking the country to a 5 trilliondollar economy is yet another ‘jumla’—Subhash Chopra.

New Delhi: Holding the Modi Government at the Centre responsible for the economic slump and lock-outs, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of DPCC president Shri Subhash Chopra, intensified its HallaBol agitation, which entered the second day today, when huge Aakrosh Rallies and demonstrations were held at Mehrauli and Badarpur in South Delhi in which a large number of Congress workers and local people participated. Angry women demonstrators, fed up with price rise and the economic slump, raised slogans against the Modi Government. Shri Subhash Chopra was given a sword by the Congress workers.

Chairman of the Campaign Committee Shri Kirti Azad, former MP Shri Ramesh Kumar, senior leader and chief spokesperson Shri Mukesh Sharma, Jagpravesh Kumar, former Mayor Shri Satbir Singh, ex-MLAs Tek Chand Sharma, Balram Tanwar and Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely also addressed the Aakrosh Rally and demonstrations. The rallies were presided over by District presidents Rajesh Chauhan and Vishnu Agarwal.

Both Mehrauli and Badarpur were decorated with Congress flags and banners, and the Congress workers and local people, holding placards with anti-Modi slogans, also shouted slogans against the BJP Government at the Centre.

Addressing the rally, Shri Subhash Chopra said that the Modi Government’s dream of taking the country to a 5 trillion dollar economy was yet another ‘jumla’ to fool the people. He said that not only the poor people who are the worst affected by the economic slump, but also the middle class and the farmers. Shri Chopra said that following demonetization, Modi’s rich friends became richer while the common people were pushed down the dumps. Shri Chopra said that the Modi Government was trying to fill the stomachs of the common people with ‘jumlas’ instead of shoring up the economy.

Shri Subhash Chopra and Shri Kirti Azad said that the GST rate has broken the back of the poor and the middle class. They said that the purchasing power of the common people has come to a virtual naught, and the soaring prices of essential goods, including vegetables, have made the lives of the people miserable. Both Shri Chopra and Shri Azad said that the time has come for the people to give a befitting reply to the Modi Government for ruining the lives of the common people.
