Apple’s 5G iPhones have been in news for quite sometime now. Reports in the past have indicated that the company would unveil three iPhone models in 2020 and that all of them might come with 5G technology. In addition to that reports have also hinted that Apple’s 5G modem might come with Qualcomm 5G modem. Now, a new report has given us greater insights into Apple’s upcoming 5G iPhone.
According to a report by Nikkei Asian Review, Apple will launch three new iPhone models with 5G connectivity next year. These iPhone models will be powered by Qualcomm’s X55 5G modem and run on Apple’s next generation processor, which will possibly be called A14, and be manufactured using 5-nanometer chip technology.
At present, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and Snapdragon 855 processors, which power a number of premium budget smartphones like OnePlus 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10, are manufactured using the 7nanometer chip technology. But why is this important? It is because lower is the nanometer number, higher is the efficiency and better is the performance. This is the reason why chip manufacturers gradually shifted from 14nm processor to 10nm processor to 7nm processor.
