New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Subhash Chopra said that when the Congress party comes to power, all the unauthorized colonies in Delhi will be regularized on the pattern adopted by Smt. Indira Gandhi in 1976-77 for the regularization of 612 unauthorized colonies without charging any registry fee. He said that over 40 lakh people in unauthorized colonies have been betrayed due to the collusion between the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party Governments, as they are yet to be given ownership rights, and notification for that. Addressing a Halla Bol rally at Rangpuri Pahadi in South Delhi today, Shri Subhash Chopra said that Congress will not make any hollow promise like the BJP and AAP, and it will tell the people only what the party can do when it comes to power. The rally was presided over by former MLA Shri Vijay Lochav.
Besides Shri Chopra, others who addressed the rally were former MP Shri Ramesh Kumar, ex-MLA Vijay Lochav and district president Rajesh Chauhan.
Shri Subhash Chopra said that the Modi Government also misled Parliament regarding regularization of unauthorized colonies, and the people of Delhi are now realizing this fact. Shri Chopra said that Union Urban Development Minister Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, in his Tweet, has not only validated Congress party’s charge, but also admitted that the BJP Government, in collusion with the AAP Government, has betrayed over 40 lakh people in unauthorized colonies. He said that DDA’s authorized website has given that these colonies have not been regularized which clearly exposes the lie of the BJP and AAP. He said that people in unauthorized colonies are forced to lead a miserable existence as the AAP Government has not done any development works in these colonies.
Shri Subhash Chopra said that there was no need to bring a Bill in Parliament for the regularization of unauthorized colonies. He said that the BJP conspired with the Kejriwal Government to take this issue to Parliament so that regularization of these colonies can be delayed indefinitely. He said that people in these colonies are waiting for a chance to teach both BJP and AAP an unforgettable lesson, which will be evident in the coming Assembly elections in Delhi.
Shri Ramesh Kumar said that in the last six years, neither the BJP nor the AAP Government gave any plot or flat to the poor people. He said that when Congress was in power, it set-up 46 resettlement colonies after the Indira Gandhi Government gave 25-gaj plot to each family. He said that there is a vast difference in the words and deeds of the BJP and AAP to fool the people.
Shri Vijay Lochav said that if Section 7A in the Gazette notification is implemented, most of the unauthorized colonies in South Delhi will be out of the ambit of regularization. They said that in the guise of giving ownership rights, lakhs of rupees are being charged from the people which is not only illegal, but also anti-people.
Shri Mukesh Sharma said that people in unauthorized colonies have pledged to vote for the Congress in the Assembly elections in Delhi. He said that the Delhi Congress, under the leadership of Shri Subhash Chopra, will start a major agitation on the issue of unauthorized colonies.
