New Delhi: The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China organised the infamous Chinese New Year Celebration at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. Organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in China, the annual Happy Chinese New Year celebration program aims to share Chinese people’s desire to extend friendship, peace, prosperity and happiness with the people of India.
Over 150 student volunteers of Management Education and Research Institute (MERI), New Delhi belonging to various courses including BA(JMC), B.Tech, MBA and BBA participated in this cultural extravaganza. MERI has amiable relations with China, they have collaborated on various occasions and signed significant MoU’s. MERI is also coming up with a publication based on Indo- China relationship, titled ‘Bhaarat Cheen Samwad’.
The event gave a glimpse of the traditional Chinese art forms and it’s cultural heritage. The performance by China Oriental Performing Arts Group mesmerized the audience. The Spring Festival, falling on January 25, 2020 is one of the most widely spread festival in China. It holds the same significance as Diwali for in the Indian culture. It is the time when all get together to extend their wishes for the Lunar New Year. This celebration acted as a catalyst to further strengthen the India- China relationship through cultural exchange and dialogue.
