New Delhi: On October 29, 2024, the Delhi Police Academy in Jharoda Kalan, New Delhi, hosted a grand passing-out parade for the newly recruited Probationary Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) of Delhi Police and Andaman & Nicobar Police. A total of 262 PSIs participated, including 21 from the Andaman & Nicobar Police Force. Approximately 3,000 people attended the event, including family members, guests, trainees, and senior officials.
Chief Guest:
The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Mr. Rajendra Pal Upadhyay, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell. He received the salute from the marching trainees. Senior officers in attendance included Ms. Chhaya Sharma, Special Commissioner/Training, Mr. Asif Mohammad Ali, Joint Director/DPA, along with other senior officials and distinguished guests.
Training Program:
Throughout their rigorous training, PSIs were trained in various areas:
Academic subjects: Law, police procedures, organization and administration, computer science, cybercrime, and police conduct.
Physical training: This included parade drills, unarmed combat, firearms training, anti-terrorism tactics, physical fitness routines, and commando training (for Delhi Police PSIs).
Focused areas: Emphasis was placed on managing situations related to terrorism and riots, physical fitness through PT, sports, yoga and meditation, and gym activities.
Awards and Recognition:
The best-performing PSIs of the batch were awarded trophies and certificates. SI Neeraj Kakrolia received the “All Round Best” trophy for Batch 53.
Diploma and Certificates:
Delhi Police PSIs were awarded diploma certificates in Police Administration and Investigation, in collaboration with Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Gujarat. Mr. Ajay Rajgor, Associate Administrative Director at RRU, administered the oath and then presented diploma certificates to all Delhi Police PSIs.
Oath Ceremony and Welcome Address:
The oath was administered by Mr. Mohammad Ali, IPS, Deputy Director of the Delhi Police Academy. Mr. Asif Mohammad Ali, IPS, Joint Director, DPA, welcomed Chief Guest Mr. Rajendra Pal Upadhyay (IPS), Special Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, and other dignitaries. He congratulated the trainees on completing their basic training and emphasized the importance of using modern technology. He advised the trainees to uphold ethics, moral values, and the knowledge imparted during their training.
Excerpts from the Chief Guest’s Speech:
In his address, Mr. Rajendra Pal Upadhyay, IPS, commended the trainees for successfully completing their training and parade. He congratulated their families and the officers and trainers of the Delhi Police Academy for their dedication. He urged the new officers to uphold the ethics, values, and knowledge they had acquired during their training in their future duties.
This grand event reflects the successful induction of well-trained and capable personnel into Delhi Police and Andaman & Nicobar Police, reinforcing the force with a new generation of disciplined law enforcement officers.
