New Delhi:On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Smt. Indira Gandhi, a function was organized at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) office, Rajiv Bhawan, here today. Congress leaders and workers, led by DPCC president Shri Subhash Chopra, offered floral tributes at the portrait of Smt. Indira Gandhi.
Besides Shri Subhash Chopra, others who offered floral tributes at the portrait of Indiraji were ex-MP Shri Mahabal Mishra, former Leader of the House in the MCD Shri Jitender Kumar Kochar (Jitu), former Mayor Shri Satvir Singh, District presidents Mohd. Usman, Hari Kishan Jindal, Rajesh Chauhan, Gurcharan Singh Raju, Virender Kasana, A.R. Joshi ex-MLAs Asif Mohd. Khan, Kunwar Karan Singh, Anil Bhardwaj, leader of the Congress party in the South MCD Shri Abhishek Dutt, chief organizer of Delhi Sewa Dal Shri Sunil Kumar, and BCC president and a large number of Congress workers.
DPCC president Shri Subhash Chopra said that Smt Indira Gandhi was a leader of the masses who safeguarded the interest of the poor, weak, underprivileged, the old, widows, women, children and the common people. He said that Smt. Indira Gandhi took many momentous decisions, dynamic initiatives and several measures to eradicate poverty, unemployment and housing problems in the country through the 20-point programme and took the country on the road to development and progress with a modern vision.
Shri Subhash Chopra said that Indiraji was among the tallest leaders of the world and the dynamic political and administrative steps she took in solving the problems and issues of the country were legendary. He said that Smt Indira Gandhi had always looked ahead, and with the help and support of friendly nations, made India a nuclear power and helped make great strides in all spheres of development.
