New Delhi: Thousands of Congress workers, under the leadership of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Subhash Chopra, held a peace march from the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan to Rajghat to mark the 135th Foundation Day of the Congress party. The theme of the march was to “Save Constitution and Communal Amity”. Braving the early morning chill and dipping mercury, thousands of Congress party workers from across Delhi, carrying tri-colour flags, participated in the peach march. They chanted bhajan ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, Patit Pavan Sita Ram” and slogans such as ‘Hindu-Muslim-Sikh-Isaii Aapas Me Hai Bhai-Bhai’, ‘Save Constitution, Save Constitution’, ‘Sampradayik Ektha Zindabad” etc. The Congress workers represented all sections of people who belonged to different religions.
Outside Ambedkar Stadium, the Congress workers and leaders paid floral tribute to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s portrait.
On this occasion, besides Shri Subhash Chopra, AICC-In-charge of Delhi Shri P.C.Chacko, former DPCC presidents Shri Jai Prakash Agarwal and Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, Campaign Committee chairman Shri Kirti Azad, chief spokesperson Shri Mukesh Sharma and Shri Ramesh Kumar, Krishna Tirath also participated. The Congress workers, under the leadership of Shri Subhash Chopra, also paid homage at the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
In the morning, before the peace march, Shri Subhash Chopra, along with Shri P.C.Chacko, hoisted the Congress flag to open the Congress Foundation Day function at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan.
Shri Chopra and Shri Chacko paid homage to lakhs of Congress workers who sacrificed their lives for the independence of the country. They also thanked the lakhs of Congress workers in Delhi for making the Congress a vibrant political force in the Capital, and for spreading the policies and programmes of the party in the Capital. They said that without the support of the Congress workers, no agitation can succeed.
Shri Subhash Chopra and Shri Chacko said that on the 135th Foundation Day of the party, Congress workers take the pledge to be always vigilant to protect the Constitution. They said that the Citizenship Amendment Act, passed by the BJP Government, was intended to divide the country and society on communal and casteist lines, and they strongly condemned such a move. Recalling the attack on students of Jamia Millia University, Shri Chopra and Shri Chacko said that the BJP, in collusion with the Aam Aadmi Party Government, were filing cases against innocent people through Delhi Police, which was highly objectionable. They appealed to the Congress workers to help maintain peace and communal harmony in their areas.
Shri Mukesh Sharma said that the Delhi Congress will continue their agitation against the BJP and AAP to expose their lies and anti-people policies before the people. He said that under the party’s ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’, Halla Bol rally will be held at Model Town tomorrow, Sunday, 29th December. Shri Subhash Chopra will address the rally and may make a big announcement.

Joshi, Inderjit Singh, Rajesh Chauhan, Madan Khorwal, Virendra Kasana, Gurcharan Singh Raju, Mohammed Usman, Vishnu Swaroop Aggarwal, Major Ved Prakash, Brahm Yadav, DPYC President Vikas Chikara, Seva Dal Chief Organizer and thousands of Congress workers were present.
