Our government has done nothing wrong: Lekhi

New Delhi: Today Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, National Spokesperson and MP from New Delhi addressed the public meeting at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. Over 3000 thousand people gathered in support of CAA. In this meeting, Shri Anil Sharma, President, New Delhi District, BJP and Shri Bharat Bhushan Madan, President, Karol Bagh District, BJP attended the program. A video showing Important points related to CAA was also played.

Smt. Lekhi welcomed all the people who attended the program organised in support of CAA. Addressing the massive gathering, Smt. Lekhi said that firstly I would like to inform everyone that today court has finally issued death warrant in Nirbhaya Case. She alleged that AAP intentionally delayed the file in the case of Nirbhaya and only after the Hyderabad case when they realised this may backfire , government of Delhi moved the file.

Talking about CAA She said that we need to understand what CAA is all about and why some people with malicious agenda are intentionally misleading the people for their own political gain. She said that Today in Pakistan the population of minorities is just 3%which has come drastically down from 23%. In India population of minorities have risen from time of Independence but still certain people have the audacity to question us but not Pakistan. She cleared that CAA has nothing do with Indian citizens and there is a vicious attempt to mislead the society.

Smt. Lekhi flayed the opposition parties for their alleged hypocrisy in opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and said that It is disappointing to learn that these people have been living in India for 28-30 years but can’t admit their children in schools or buy a house as they do not have citizenship. Our rivals cannot see anything beyond their vote bank politics.

Smt. Lekhi elaborated that our government has done nothing wrong and there is a provision to provide citizenship to the brothers of minority communities who came from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. We should not believe in rumours and spoil the peace of the country. Unnecessarily there has been a brazen attempt to derail the image of India at global level by those involved in corrupt practices. She said even today anyone can apply for the citizenship in India by process of Naturalisation provided in the constitution. It is just that minorities residing in India before 31 December 2014 who have faced atrocities for a long period of time will be able to get citizenship through CAA. She urged everyone to reach out to people explain the real facts about CAA to counter the misinformation being spread by the opposition parties.

Smt. Lekhi claimed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is “marching ahead” and we will continue to work for the betterment of the people with our motto of ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’.
