Poorvanchalis have made great contribution in the construction and all-round development of Delhi—Subhash Chopra.

New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Subhash Chopra said that Poorvanchalis settled in Delhi have made great contribution in the construction and all-round development of the Capital. He said that the Congress party has decided to make many Poorvanchalis as candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi. Shri Chopra made this announcement at a convention of Poorvanchal Congress held at the Mavlankar Hall here today. The convention was presided over by Delhi Pradesh Poorvanchal Congress Cell chairman Shri Shivji Singh.

Besides DPCC president Shri Subhash Chopra, prominent others who addressed the convention were former Lok Sabha Speaker Smt. Meira Kumar, Delhi Incharge P.C. Chacko, chairman of the Campaign Committee Shri Kirti Azad and ex-MP Shri Mahabal Mishra, Dr Madan Mohan and Ms Poonam Azad.

Shri Subhash Chopra said that Poorvanchalis have played a very vital role in the development of Delhi. He said that the hard-working Poorvanchalis have created a special place for themselves in Delhi. He said that the Congress party has not only rewarded the people of Poorvanchal, but always worked for their welfare and progress. Shri Chopra said that it was the Congress Government in Delhi which established the Maithli-Bhojpuri Academy in Delhi, and took the decision to create Chhat Ghats at the Gram Sabha and DDA lands.

Shri Subhash Chopra blamed the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party Governments for neglecting the people of Poorvanchal as they were anti-Poorvanchalis. Shri Chopra asserted that in the coming Delhi Assembly elections, Poorvanchalis would vote only for the Congress.

Shri Kirti Azad and Shri Mahabal Mishra said that people of Poorvanchal have left their distinctive imprint in all walks of life in the Capital. They said that Poorvanchalis have done a great job in upholding their culture and traditions in Delhi to show the right path to their children. They appealed to the Poorvanchalis to vote only for the Congress candidates in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections as it is the Congress which has always protected the interest of Poorvanchalis in Delhi.

Chief spokesperson Shri Mukesh Sharma said that the Congress party will form Poorvanchal Cells in all the Assembly constituencies, which will strengthen the party at the polling-booth levels in the Assembly elections. He said that the party has given many posts to Poorvanchalis in Delhi.
