New Delhi, 19th July 2020: Savan is one of the most important and divine months as per Hindu belief and lakhs of worshipers known as Kanwadiyas offer Gangajal to Lord Shiva during this holy month. As per Hindu scriptures, in the worship of Lord Shiva offering of Gangajal is an important ritual and hence the ritual of offering the water of Maa Ganga by Kanwadiyas is said to be thousands of years old. Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic Kanwad Yatra has been canceled this year, keeping this thing in mind for worshippers in order to fulfil the ritual of offering Gangajal to Lord Shiva, IYC National President Shri Srinivas BV arranged gangajal from Uttarakhand through the IYC Uttarakhand team to be distributed amongst the worshipers and to be offered to Lord Shiva at various temples in Delhi.
In continuation of this goal, the IYC teams distributed Gangajal brought from Uttarakhand to devotess across various Shiv Temples in Delhi including the Gauri Shankar Mandir in Chandni Chowk, on the occassion of Savan Shivratri. The idea behind such a step is to not let a thousand year old ritual of the worshippers vanish due to the current Covid-19 situation.
