IYC demands Yogi Adityanath’s resignation

New Delhi, 23rd July 2020: IYC in a press note has said that Uttar Pradesh has become a crime state under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In the press note the IYC has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party had promised to establish Ramrajya in the state but the ruthless killing of journalist Vikram Joshi has clearly exposed all the claims of good governance and crime control made over the years by the Uttar Pradesh government. The National President of the Indian Youth Congress, Shri Srinivas B.V. said, “My sincere tribute to journalist Vikram Joshi ji and my condolences to his family members.” Questioning the law and order of Uttar Pradesh, he said, “BJP Promised Ramrajya in Uttar Pradesh but has instead delivered a Jungleraj. Can the Bharatiya Janata Party and Yogi Adityanath tell the little girls that their father was killed because the Yogi government couldn’t protect a man fighting against injustice. In Uttar Pradesh, those who speak the truth are being intimidated and killed. The complete failure of law and order in the state cannot be ignored anymore and Yogi Adityanath should resign.”
Shri Srinivas B.V. further said that “There is no rule of law in the state but only Jungle Raj. Was BJP’s Yogi Government elected for this Jungle Raj? Journalist Vikram Joshi’s murder in broad daylight is not an isolated incident. Crushing those who raise their voice against injustice and the protection of power for such criminals suggests that the Uttar Pradesh government wants to strangle the truth. Vikram Joshi constantly pleaded for help from the police but Yogi ji’s police did not take any action. Who is responsible for his killing?”
According to the NCRB statistics, there is complete chaos in Uttar Pradesh and the government seems to be a dumb witness to these ever growing incidents of violence in the state. In Uttar Pradesh, 46 women are abducted daily, 12 women are daily victimized while 162 women suffer from some or the other form of violence every day. As per reports 11 murders are taking place in the state every day.
In UP, the morale of criminals is at a peak as the UP government has consistently given soft signals to criminals, hiding crime statistics and protecting powerful criminals. When someone raises questions on the issues of crime, the BJP tries to gag them. According to the Association for Democratic Research, out of the 312 BJP MLAs in Uttar Pradesh, 114 i.e. 37 percent have criminal cases against them. Of these, 83 MLAs are accused of serious crimes like rape, murder and kidnapping. Will these people be able to work for the betterment of the state?
Journalism itself is being scammed in Uttar Pradesh today. The government itself is registering cases against journalists who bring out the truth, or they are being murdered in broad daylight. Is this not a suppression of truth and dissent? Ramesh Mishra of Lakhimpur was murdered in broad daylight. Several other examples where the Yogi government has tried to suppress speech are as follows:

  1. Manish Pandey of News 1 India exposed the case of low-level PPE kits and in return, the government registered cases against him.
  2. The government filed a case against Supriya Sharma of the Scroll because she exposed the reality of the village of Jayapur adopted by the PM in Varanasi.
  3. Pawan Jaiswal, who showed children being fed bread and salt in mid day meal had to face cases.
  4. Prashant Kanaujia, who wrote against the government on Facebook, had to face cases and was finally acquitted by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
  5. Uttar Pradesh government filed a lawsuit against 5 journalists in Bijnor because they wanted to show the public the truth of discrimination based on caste.
  6. Uttar Pradesh government, which provides protection to criminals, imposed the Gangster Act on journalists of Noida.

Even BJP’s own MLAs are exposing the corruption prevailing under Yogi Adityanath. Rakesh Rathore, MLA from Hardoi and MLA Shyam Prakash from Sitapur, also revealed the reality of the current rule in U.P. CM’s silence on the ever increasing crime and jungle raj raises big questionmarks.
It’s even more shameful that BJP government is giving open protection to criminals. U.P. government has not been able to give compassionate appointment to the son of martyred Inspector Subodh Singh in Bulandshahr yet, far from getting justice for him, Shikhar Agarwal, the main accused in the murder, has been made an office bearer of the party – the General Secretary of PM Jan Kalyan Yojana campaign.
Evem the Supreme Court made a strong comment on the Uttar Pradesh government saying that there is a jungle raj prevailing in UP. This is a failure of the system. As the current CM remains silent on these major issues of law and order and open protection to criminals from the BJP is being provided, he must resign as the CM, because a CM is supposed to be accountable to people.

Note: all the allegations levelled in the article have been alleged by IYC through the press note.
