DPCC president Shri Subhash Chopra terms Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at Ramlila ground a “betrayal rally”

New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Shri Subhash Chopra termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally at the Ramlila ground today, which was supposed to give ownership rights to those living in unauthorized colonies, as a “Betrayal Rally” as the BJP has deceived over 40 lakh people. He said that nobody was given the Registry to make fun of these innocent people. Shri Chopra said that people were brought for the rally by telling them lies that they would be given ownership rights, and when they left the rally venue, they felt cheated and betrayed.

Addressing a Halla Bol rally at North West Delhi’s Narela and South Delhi’s Jaitpur today against the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party Governments’ anti-people and destructive polices, Shri Subhash Chopra said that both these Governments have made only hollow promises to deceive and fool the people. Chief spokesperson Shri Mukesh Sharma, Shri Rajesh Lilothia, Shri Devender Yadav and Charan Singh Khandera also addressed the rally. Local Congress leader Shri Praveen Kumar presided over the rally. District presidents Inderjit and Kailash Jain were also present. The rally at Jaitpur was addressed by Shri Ramesh Kumar and chairman of the Campaign Committee Shri Kirti Azad.

Shri Subhash Chopra, addressing Halla Bol rallies at Narela and South Delhi’s Jaitpur, said that both the BJP and AAP have betrayed the people of unauthorized colonies in the guise of regularization. Shri Chopra said that the BJP Government’s notification regarding regularization has created fear among the people as the sword of demolition has been hung over them. Shri Chopra said that if Section 7A in the notification is enforced, over 700 unauthorized colonies will go out of the purview of regularization, and small shops and small commercial establishments face the spectre of sealing. Shri Chopra said that those living in unauthorized colonies in Delhi have been deliberately made thieves by the BJP and AAP Governments as they now say that these colonies have occupied Government lands. He asked on what authority DDA was collecting lakhs of rupees from these colonies for giving “conveyance deeds”. Shri Subhash Chopra said that the Congress party has always advocated that no conversion charge should be levied on these colonies, and the party stands by its stated position.

A resolution moved by chief spokesperson Shri Mukesh Sharma against the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party Governments was unanimously passed by thousands of people with show of hands. The resolution “condemned the anti-people policies as the Gazette notification issued by the BJP Government on 29 October, 2019 has turned owners of the properties into tenants”. The resolution also resolved that in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, both the BJP and AAP will be taught a bitter lesson.

Shri Devendra Yadav, Shri Rajesh Lilothia and Shri Karan Singh Khandera alleged that due to the BJP-AAP conspiracy, people in unauthorized colonies are on the edge, and they were waiting for an opportunity to teach these parties an unforgettable lesson in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. They asserted that if Section 7A in the notification is applied, it will keep out over 700 colonies from the ambit of regularization. They said that over 10 lakh poor people, mostly minorities and marginalized people, live in these colonies. They said that the Congress will not allow the bid by the BJP and AAP to uproot people of unauthorized colonies.

Shri Ramesh Kumar and Shri Kirti Azad said that a majority of those living in unauthorized colonies hail from Poorvanchal, and the manner in which the BJP and AAP Governments are conspiring to uproot these people are highly objectional and a calculated deception. They said that the people from Poorvanchal will definitely teach these parties a lesson in the coming Delhi Assembly elections as Poorvanchali votes play decisive roles in many Assembly constituencies. They said that the Union Government has given a blanket licence to the DDA to fleece lakhs of rupees from those living in unauthorized colonies.

Shri Mukesh Sharma said that the policy framed by the BJP Government to give ownership rights is so flawed that so far only 20,000 people have applied for it. He expressed surprise that no a single resident from an unauthorized colony has been given Registration documents. He said that it has now become clear that the whole drama was to loot the people of Delhi. He said that if the Central Government has the courage of conviction, it should immediately give authorization papers to the people.
