New Delhi: Union Minister Smt. Smriti Irani today welcomed the rejection of the mercy petition of Mukesh of one of the convicts in Nirbhaya case by the President of India Shri Ramnath Kovind. Addressing the media persons at Delhi BJP Office Smt. Smriti Irani said that the way in which the Home Ministry expeditiously forwarded the mercy petition to the President and prompt decision by the President on the mercy petition, a new hope of justice among the women of the country has arisen. National Media Co-Incharge Shri Sanjay Mayukh, Pradesh Vice Presidents Smt. Monika Pant and Smt. Yogita Singh and Media Head Shri Ashok Goel Devraha were present in this occasion.
Smt. Smriti Irani said that Smt. Asha Devi, the mother of Nirbhaya has played great role in securing justice and we salute her sacrifice.
Smt. Smriti Irani said that when the entire country is united for expeditious justice to Nirbhaya, it has been found that Arvind Kejriwal tried to delay justice in this case.
She also said that as a woman worker, I am very much aggrieved due to the delaying tactics of Aam Aadmi Party and want to tell all the citizens of the country that Jail Department is under the jurisdiction of Delhi Government and the Hon’ble Supreme Court had rejected the review petitions of the convicts in July, 2018 itself but the Jail administration and Kejriwal Government suppressed the case. Delhi Government’s Advocate Rahul Mehra also tried to postpone the execution by citing the procedural reasons in the court.
Smt. Smriti Irani raised a question why the mother of Nirbhaya has not been given justice in this case? Why the Aam Aadmi Party advocate says that there may be delay in executing the rapists. The person who claim to be juvenile but was the most cruel rapist and also confessed to have committed the crime. The Aam Aadmi Party also granted 10,000 rupees for his release. She also said that I want to ask the AAP Government that why after the rejection of review petition by the Supreme Court in July, 2018, the convicts in Nirbhaya case were not hanged. Not only me but the entire country says that such party should be ashamed.
